On the 27th of November 2017, the Executive Mayor of Setsoto Local Municipality Cllr Nthateng Maoke officially launched “Operation Patala” Campaign. The campaign was categorised into the following:

The Executive Mayor visited all identified businesses who owe the Municipality to formally give them warning that their services will be cut if arrangement with the Municipality is not done.

The Executive Mayor later met with the Community of Meqheleng at Mapenyadira Hall as part of creating a platform of engagement between the Municipality and the community.

It is during the meeting with the community of Meqheleng that the Executive Mayor Cllr Nthateng Maoke and members of Mayoral Committee took upon themselves to present challenges that are currently facing the Municipality and therefore hampering the delivery of Services.
“We should not stop emphasizing the importance of paying for services because the very same services that the community is demanding need budget and unfortunately the Municipality currently is unable to attend to each and every service issue due to financial constraints” said Cllr Nthateng Maoke – Executive Mayor

This on – going campaign will take place around all towns of Setsoto and it is part of measures put in place to increase revenue in order for the Municipality to be able to fasten the delivery of services.
For the Municipality to be able to accelerate the delivery of services, every working individuals defaulting on Municipal account must start paying and in the case of those who fall under the threshold of the indigents are encouraged to register as indigents.
To encourage residents to take responsibility of paying, the municipality introduced an incentive of cutting the balance of the account with 50% and the account owner will be responsible for the remaining 50%.
