On the 31st of July 2017, the Executive Mayor of Setsoto Local Municipality Cllr Nthateng Maoke hosted Women in Business dialogue as part of celebrating women’s month.
The purpose of the event was not only to celebrate women’s month but it was a platform aimed at giving all business women a platform to engage on the success and challenges they come across in the line of business as women. The invited women were women in business ranging from taxi industry to women in farming.
The event consisted of different government departments that play a pivotal role in developing businesses. The invited Departments included but not limited to Department of Agriculture, Department of Rural Development, FDC, Destea etc. It was during individual presentations by different departments that questions were raised and answered.
“This event gave us an opportunity to interact with different departments in order to obtain more information on how we can develop our growing businesses and we appreciate it very much” said Alice Mpiti who was one of the women in business.
“For us to be able to bring the government close to its people is a big thing and seeing all these women being excited to the possibility of reaching their dreams makes us feel proud that we are indeed playing our role of giving back to the community” said Executive Mayor Cllr Nthateng Maoke.
The event was attended by representatives from Destea, Department of Agriculture, Department of Rural Development, FDC, Old Mutual and all Female Councillors of Setsoto Local Municipality.
