Water Shortage

Following stolen cables at the Ficksburg Water Treatment Plant on Thursday the 30th of November 2017, the Municipality is still experiencing a challenge of pumping enough water for the demand of both Ficksburg and Meqheleng.

Although one stolen cable has been replaced, it cannot supply enough power for all pumps at the Water Treatment Plant. The Municipality then opted to pump water from Meulspruit Dam but unfortunately on the 01st of December 2017, a main pipe from Meulspruit Dam burst between Bosch and Ambracht Street therefore making it impossible to get raw water from Meulspruit Dam.

Water Notice

The community of Senekal/Matwabeng is informed that there is water shortage due to a burnt pump motor at Cyferfontein Water Works. The Municipality will then implement valve management immediately with water available from 05h00 – 08h00 in the morning and 17h00 – 20h00 in the evening daily until the situation is addressed.

The Municipality would like to assure the community that although the levels of raw water are low, the municipality can still supply water for sometime as the average level is approximately at 45%.

The Municipality would like to apologise for the inconvenience that might be caused by the situation.

All enquiries can be directed to Manager Water Services Mr. Thabo Mokhethoa on 082 8363 196.
