Winnie died on the 2nd of April 2018 at the age 81. The commemoration is held through out the country as to honour and celebrate the life of this anti- apartheid.
Madikizela was married to the late former South African president Nelson Mandela who died on the 5th December 2013, following her illness.
The strong women known as the “Mother of Nation,” played a very important role not only in women of South Africa but across the world. Winnie will always be remembered by the role he played and the change she brought in the lives of many.
On this day women are encouraged to wear their Doek as to celebrate and remember the life is this freedom fighter.
